well I'm pleased with the future update of having a material tab.
the event items tab would be for ppl who have recieved almost every single event item so far and beyond which is for long-term players but the amount of these items do not warrant an event item tab atm.

regardless I'm quite happy

What's your professional training?

So seeing as to how you are not a customer service consultant, mechanic, civil engineer, avionics engineer, computer engineer, software developer, or working in any of the myraid of jobs that make society tick, so tell me, does that take away your right to criticise anything?

Incidentally software is my thing, and yes, Anet is being cheap here. I'd rather they fire the whole lot of guys in their events team and actually resolve all these issues we have once and for all with that extra money than to actually pinch pennies and peek bytes to give us half assed solutions to issues that faces US.

Hell, in fact for a teeny bit of storage more Anet can probably relax the restrictions a bit and at least give us a "materials stash" sans the restrictions that you have to put material type A in slot 1 and material type B in slot 2, but no, they are simply too cheap! After selling 2 million copies they can't even afford to *gasp* buy a few scores of $30 40 GB harddrives! Not like those dated drives are so expensive to begin with!

Look, if I'm not welcome here for posting opinions slightly cricical of Anet sometimes, just say so and I'll leave. Is it nice? Sure. It isn't even in the game yet, and some people are going nuts.

I also believe that if customers don't like something they have the right to say so and shouldn't feel like they need to either say northing or praise them for every little addition, even if it wasn't really what they wanted. From a business standpoint, thats a way to loose customers very quickly. Their praise is my money in their pocket on expansions should they do things I like.

And of course, in the spirit of benevolence that fills these forums, some of you will go on to say that I should then quit playing if I don't like it. Arenanet is working with an environment that is a lot more prone to change than most others, giving them great potential to make this game amazing. Some times they just look like they need a push in the right direction to get the ball rolling. Its good, but we shouldn't overlook its potential to be even better. In short, the thing I dislike most is having to defend myself on forums for stating what this customer wants.

if you think that is what they need or use you are not just clueless you are beyond reasoning with.

if this game makes you so unhappy i fail to see you continuing to bitch unless bitching about a game is the high point in you day.

Well i like the fact that we are getting more inventory space whether it be for materials or runes or whatever as long as its a step in the right direction id rather have more storage space for materials then no storage space for them :x

I think it's a great idea and am waiting very impatiently. Crafting materials take up most of my inventory anyhow, so a separate place for them means it's easier to trade weapons and finds between characters or store my infused armor not neededin Cantha (just cannot give up my 15K Rogue's or Studded ).

Kijik Oni Hanryuu, you should stop posting on the boards and grab your skirt and pom poms.

I think you have professional cheerleading in your future.

Fantastic - before I heard of this new tab, I sold off all my spare materials to the traders for space. Hooray.

1 they use servers, not regualr hard drives. if you really thought hard drives were needed, you are beyond clueless.

2. 2 million copies x even the smallest increase in account file size is alot of memory.

I'm sure Anet has plenty of storage space in the data center
on the servers. Look at all the space going to get taken up when extra slots are ready for players to buy this summer. Then you will have players names, slots, armor ect to store = more storage than changing the the stack size.

I maybe wrong and don't I claim to a computer/server expert but just the way I see it.

Common guys let face it, despite all the yak about they like farmers statements Anet makes, it is obvious why they have been avoiding expanding storage and proper trading for players:

They dont want you to play the game 24/7.

Remember the statements made by Jeff Strain in an interview with VGM daily where he said that they were excitied that people have dusted off their old GW copy to revisit the game in preparation for Factions?

It highlights the mentality that they like you to support them by buying new expansions but not neccessary play them for long. And how do they discourage that?

Simple: Restrict character slots, Restrict storage, Restrict trading, Restrict content. Encourage boredom from extended play from imposed restrictions.

The New expanded storage is only avaible to Factions only toons proves this. Not that its terribly fanatasic anyways. In short, in the comparison to other MMO that is P2P and F2P, GW's storage and trading system is a joke.

Edit:

Forgot to add that indeed beggers cant be choosers but definetly angry forums posters. lol.

YunSooJin that made me LOL, sure I may have cheerleading in my FUTURE but you have NONE, you strive only to bitch and complain about things you can't change while I strive to have the strength to change what I can and accept what I cannot. ALso isn't funny how you try to tell me to do something in real life when you do not know me in any way, shape, or fashion. Try and find out who I am, then tell me what to do, till then ESBATMFOAD oh and if ya wanna figure out what that means, PM me asking, I'd be glad to tell you. Also you really wanna know WHY I thank Anet so much? They have introduced a game that is on par with all of the damned Pay To Play games but for free and with only having to pay $50.00 more dollars twice a YEAR to have even more of a variety and it's only by choice, I'll be damned if that almost isn't on the level of a charity, and I feel that a good charity should be thanked, not constantly bitched at and whined at. So that is the end of my rant and I hope that you got my point!
GOOD DAY!

sorry Yuo Can Do It! I got you mixed up with YunSooJin

I love the idea of clearing all the stacks of crafting materials out of my regular storage. that's the bulk of what i have in there, since it's the only stuff that is useful on more than one character. The rest stays on the character it is customized for, or the one that would use it (ie swords axes and hammers in my warrior's inventory)

The only reasonable way i can think of improving this idea is to add such a feature to each character's inventory, since i have a collection of (less than 250) wood, iron, and such materials on each character, because if i salvage an item i'm gonna end up w/ x amount of one of those materials, and therefore i'm gonna use the spot in my inventory anyway, be it for 12 iron ingots from salvaging, or 173 iron ingots that have accumulated.

This would free up many spots in my inventory, but i'm happy enough w/ clearing those materials out of my general storage box

sorry if somebody already posted w/ this same sentiment, but i didn't read the whole thread :P

What about all the weapon mods, dye, event items (as a note event items take up at this point 23 slots and we still have the dragon festival helm that brings it up to 24.

Storage itself is only 20 slots so right there we are forced into having to have a mule character carrying the 4 extra items. And what about the upcoming events. And look at that, all I have done in numbers is event items lol. Then we have 8 coloured dyes, spare armor and weapons( note some characters can carry their spares but personally when I go to my war riposte farming build or something I want as much space as possible.)

Don"t get me wrong I think its great that they are adding more space for materials since thats a litle help but it still does not help with the big picture.

In my opinion anything that is stackable that is either materials, dyes or special events should be able to go into this upcoming extra storage. I think this would be better.
If you want to talk about mule characters then I can match your game. My main account has 2 for common materials. I also have 2 other accounts completely for storage. Am I complaining about this? No, I'm not. I still play with my mule characters. I keep a few slots open to pick up things.

You yourself said "its an improvement." Doesn't matter how small or big it is. Its an improvement. Besides no one is telling you to horde every item you come across. When I bought my 2 other accounts I did not complain that I had to buy more accounts for storage. That's the way the system is set up and that's how it works.

I have to pay 1 upfront fee for my accounts the rest of my GW life. If a company said "You can get cable tv for only 1 upfront fee of $1000 for the rest of you natural life." Would you do it? I know I would.

I deal with people like this all day. It sickens me sometimes. Most of the time we take a loss to get our customer's what they want. Then next time they want even more. Its like Americans think they are owed something. I can say that because I am an American. I can't speak for other countries because I live there.

I do agree that its another advantage of getting factions and can be used as a selling point but its not the only one. If you think this is a such a small improvement then what does it matter. You've lived without it before now you can live without it in the future if you choose to do so. Its all choice.

Its like people complain about the $10 per slots when they become available to sell. ITS A CHOICE TO GET IT PEOPLE. No one is twisting your arm.

Anyways go Anet and keep the improvements coming. I have not spent more time on a game my entire life and is the cheapest game I've invested into so far. No complaints here. I didn't even like factions during the beta and hated the CE debogal. I bought factions and liked the changes made to AB. Glad you do listen to your gamers. I was the one that suggested the breaking up of teams on this forum and no random enters. They do listen to us and do their best to please us. All for a 1 time fee for each chapter.

No, you can't. It's not just Americans, anyway - it's all people. If you lived somewhere else, you'd probably find the same, and not only Americans complain on these boards.

I'd say there's more than enough storage available between vaults and bags - some people are just packrats. There's only so much you need or will be using - liquidate the rest into clean $$$$!

First of all, not everyone has a pvp character. I have a monk, war, necro, ele, rit, and ranger. I want to make a pvp, but i would much rather have a mesmer and a assassin first. (tahts y i cant wait 4 the update where u can buy more character slots)

Second, OMG, wat the hell?!?!? Are you people happy with anything Arena Net does??? I've only been on these forums for less than a week and I see SO MUCH WHINNING!!! like "WTF wow u cant max out the lucky or unlucky titles in the time of this event!", "This event mission is almsot impossible and u only get 50 orbs from it! Y did arena net waste this time making this mission?!?!" or like here, "Wow, they added storage for materials! HOW DUMB!" Arena Net doesn't HAVE to have events that can give you titles or events at all, and they don't HAVE to upgrade storage. Like some other people said on this post, there are other MMO's that you have to pay monthly for, yet they NEVER upgrade the storage. And some people cant get ANY of the lucky or unlucky titles (like me) just because we don't have the extra gold to spend on the tickets, and unless people start donating tickets (highly doubtful) I dont think a lot of people like me are gonna even try to get the titles (tho i wish i could).
BE THANKFUL FOR WAT ARENA NET GIVES YOU BECAUSE THEY DIDNT HAVE TO SPEND THE TIME TO MAKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO ADD IT TO THE GAME EITHER!

Third, I personally like the things Arena Net is doing. I like the festival (exept the ticket stuff). The missions are hard, but that is wat makes it fun. There are so many moments when youre whole team starts to think "Nooo, we are going to die!!! ANd we are so close to the next rift portal thing!" Its moments like those that are the funnest and u reallly dont get that feeling in most other things because they aren't as hard and long. I am really, really glad that they added materials to the storage, because I know there are gonna be more chapters. Remember how there was the couple week period right after factions came out where almost all the materials prices spiked up because so many people were buying materials for their armor? Now there might be some spike, but not nearly as bad. Because I do not have that much gold in this game, it was sooooo hard to get armor for the characters I just made with the two extra slots. I barely got enough money for my monk's armor, and it was so anoyingly expensive, i decided to wait till the materials droped again before i even thought of getting armor. I basically couldnt play on my rit for a while just because of that. Now I can finally keep my materials that I am pretty sure I will need sometime.

Fourth, you need to remember that you aren't the only person in guild wars and not everyone needs/wants the same things you do. Maybe you can afford the price spike and you would rather just buy your materials when you need it. Good for you, but not everyone (for example me) is like that.

Sorry if this got off topic (I know it did at least a little) but i am just really anoyed with all the people that can't seem to understand that 1) this will at least be usefull to someone otherwise Arena Net wouldn't put it in in the first place and 2) Arena Net never had to make this additional stuff! (like titles, this event, the event misison, and the material storage)

In short, just be glad that Arena Net is adding things, even if you don't like it because there is someone in the game that will, and it shows Arena net does care about its players.

Sorry, but all these whinners got me really mad. I just had to let it out....

And yes, I also think they should add things (I would really like storage for dyes because I always save my dyes for later use, and, as far as I know, dyes do not count as materials) but don't complain about wait Arena Net does give to you.

twicky that statement is completely true and respectable.. and tear you are right, all humans think they are owed something, they think they are the next biggest thing, when they the LAST thing, humans naturally destroy the environment around them in an attempt so take everything they can from it, sucking it dry, humans are naturally evil and greedy beings, nothing can be done about it, I only still fight with hope that one day atleast i can make some people see the light and change for the better.. 'Tis a sad world we live in where people spend the time of their day whining about everything instead of being gracious for what they have..(I wouldn't even be on GWG 'cept I am holed up at my grandparents house)

^^ Gamecube good statement a few typos but the message got across.

Hey, not to fret, your hungry, I'll bake you a chicken. Oh, wait, theres some complications with catching it, it'll take some time. Ok, it took us 3 months to catch the bugger, we'll bake it now. Oh, crap, we don't have what we need to prepare it, we'll grab it now. Sorry, our cars all broke down and every store closed, we had to walk to the next state. Sorry that took 4 months. Now we'll bake it. CRAP! The oven broke, we have to fix it. Ok, sorry fixing the oven took another 3 months. Now we can bake it. Wow, the oven temperature won't go above 50 degree, this'll take a while. Ok, how about we give you half a sandwich, but only if you buy the chicken as well.

Sounds like a recent event, I think.
